I want this man in my PR project group!

Nothing beats learning about public relations tactics from the professionals. This is vividly exemplified by the video above: Highlander, The Home Of Marketing Craftsmanship. Gordon G. Andrew, Managing Partner, gives some valuable insights about strategic communications in this brief overview. For example, one common error businesses make is assuming their releases alone are sufficient for effective public relations. One typical mistake with public relations agencies commit is failing to think through how their PR plan tactics will boost sales. I recommend watching this interview. In short, I'd like to have this man on my public relations project team!

NYU: The Top Choice

Click here for my pitch to PRSA. (or here:http://www.slideshare.net/yokirodriguez/m-rodriguez-assignment-10 )

I kept it simple.  That sounds easy but it was harder to downsize than it was to add.  Great training for the final!

Executive MBA in Public Relations

Well everyone this is probably my last post. I just want to express my joy working and learning with you. Eric’s experiment is a success and I hope that he continues with this approach.

Attached is my link for the PRSA presentation about a possible MBA program based upon a public relations curriculum. Have fun with the PowerPoint.

PR-MBA Pilot Program: My Pitch

Hi Team,
Firstly – I needed to clarify a point I made during my brief appearance at Monday night’s class. Whilst I was certainly loving playing within Powerpoint and working with content that was already provided for us (cheers to that!).. I can understand the anxiety a lot of people felt pulling this one together. I now feel like my presentation is way to “Corporate-y” . I have LOTS of speaker notes and a little slide animation to reduce the amount of words appearing on one slide at a time - you don't get to see that via Slideshare.

Big congratulations to Susan, Josi & Tom for sharing theirs already via SlideShare – you did did a fantastic job! Great storytelling – hats off to you :)

My presentation can be viewed here (along with speaker notes)

Have a great week everyone.

Stern Is Leading By The Bow Into New Waters

The assignment idea of NYU Stern trying to win PRSA approval by Powerpoint for a MBA public relations program is cutting edge. Naturally, using the PFR&P course as a content guide make natural sense. The class is rigorous enough that it could be included in a doctoral program. And the task is good preparation for the final PR presentation powerpoint. I think Eric should make this assigment standard for all future PFR&P classes.

PRSA Initiative with MBA programs

Before doing this assignment, I truely believed that there was a need for more Corporate communication /Reputation Management courses into MBA programs but it was interesting to study specifically for NYU. PRSA's initiative has a raison d'ĂȘtre and it is a promising pilot project. Let's hope NYU Stern School of Business could be part of it next year.

You will find out my presentation under the following link: http://www.slideshare.net/JosianeP/prsa-initiative-with-mba-programs

Pilot Public Relations Program for MBAs at NYU

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is leading an initiative to bring public relations courses to MBA programs, starting with Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business in 2012.  The goal is to take this program nationwide in 2013.

Why do MBA students need a public relations program?   Why should the PRSA include the NYU Stern School of Business in its pilot public relations program initiative?  What would an NYU PR course for MBAs entail?

Holiday Glee

I tip my glass of (spiked) eggnog to the cast of Glee.

I wouldn't have normally shared this, but Tom's earlier post gave me a newsworthy hook to build upon the holiday-related PR campaign theme.

This video came across my Facebook feed after class tonight. I loved the original, and Glee's remake actually gave me the chills. I watched it three times in a row.

Not only is it a solid remake, but all sales for this version will go directly to Band Aid's Feed The World Foundation.

Just A Quaint Christmas Carol video

Look no further if you ever need an exhilirating video to supplement a Yuletide PR campaign, or launch a scroogebusters campaign. I found this charming treat on You Tube that will undoubedly win over even the most Doubting Thomas' heart. Check out this orchestra performing carols in a church. This uplifting presentation will just get you into the spirit of Noel. See and hear it for yourself.

THIS WEEK'S HESITANT CROWDSOURCER

I made some changes with you and the blog's purpose in mind.  I think I still have some time left with the title, so send feedback / criticism that would make this better for us.  After all, would it be crowdsourcing without gathering your ideas?  By the way, I added a picture of my dog Yoki because Allie is getting far too much airtime around here.   Here we go:

1). Added a Class Portrait of our PRF&P Family, and that Includes Allie C.  It visually shows:
a). This is a student / teacher blog without a reader having to search for text to explain
b). We are a close knit group despite our distance to each other

2).  Made it Evident that this is an NYU Student Blog by:
a). Adding an NYU torch icon (favicon) that visitors can see near the URL
b). Adding an NYU SCPS logo on the page

3).  Added Everyone's Email Address so you receive notifications of comments or entries.  This:
a). Encourages us to be involved in a way that is efficient.  Otherwise, we don't know when somethings added unless we constantly check

4).  Expanded Columns so More Information Fits on One Page.  Now we can read more with less scrolling

5).  Changed Background to Grey because:
a). The purpose of the blog is our PR related posts so the attention should be on them.
b). It's easier on our eyes for reading the posts

6). Shortened the "What is this About" Section (remembering the "fill the white space" syndrome)
a). Makes visitors more likely to read that we are "PR students learning through an online course".  Too many words and people won't read them.

I hope you like the changes :D

Hot New Blog: Liquid Keratin Diaries

As the Beauty Editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine Online, I took a risk when the Liquid Keratin girls approached me about the launch of their new blog. I tested their at-home Liquid Keratin treatment kit and was amazed at the results.

As a newly self proclaimed Liquid Keratin girl, the Liquid Keratin Diaries is my go-to blog for everything Keratin. You will find insider tips, read other girls bad hair stories (trust me, you're not alone) and find amazing deals on Liquid Keratin Products.

From the products to the Liquid Keratin Diaries blog, you wont have to worry about another bad hair day.

Happy Hair from the beauty editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine Online!

Positive Attitude Is Everything

As we prepare for our final presentations it is important to remember that positive attitude is everything! The audience is on your side and we all want you to succeed. If you see yourself doing well, you will do well. Shake off the jitters, nervous habits and negative thinking. Follow the lead of this little guy and BE HAPPY! Your enthusiasm will show throughout your presentation and get the audience excited as well. Enjoy the clip, you really can learn a lot from children ;-)

Crash and Burn Part 2 ....

Following in Susan's footsteps, I wanted to share a video I was shown by one of my university professors.

In addition to the list explained in the clip, I suggested the following two tips

1. Summarize - Like your writing, keep you ideas clear and concise. Less is more!

2. Slow Down - You will likely be nervous during your presentation and naturally speak too fast, just remember to slow down. I pretend I am speaking to my grandmother and find it works really well.
